Lucky is just as charming in LUCKY BREAKS as she was in the first book! I especially liked hearing more about Lincoln, the giggling fits with Paloma, and the wonderful, warm ending with the kids looking up at the stars and talking a little ways away from the adults. Also--I had to stop and reread the beginning about the number eleven--it's great!

I love Lucky! I found her especially endearing when she sat on her guardian's lap at bedtime, but faced forward because she thought she was too old to be sitting on someone's lap. I love Lucky! I found her especially endearing when she sat on her guardian's lap at bedtime, but faced forward because she thought she was too old to be sitting on someone's lap. I liked the way she thought her bug collection would be famous--I remember thinking things like that as a kid. When she ran away and got a bug in her ear, I thought, isn't that the way real life is sometimes--right in the middle of a crisis some dumb thing happens that you have to deal with. I also liked the setting because it was so different than anywhere I've been.
